Your Online Teacher Certificate and participation in the 2nd cohort starts as soon as you enroll!
This Early Enrollment Expires soon! So, Act Now!
There's "Good News." And, there's "Bad News."
The "good news" is that online teacher opportunities for GPCs are here! For the foreseeable future, webinars and Zoom meetings will be the way today’s workforce gets trained. GPCs who lean into online teaching as part of their tool kit will make more money than their colleagues and reach more people where they're at!
The "bad news" is that if you're like most grant professionals, you had little, if any, formal training before you got started in the grant profession.
Perhaps you, too, stumbled into the grant profession by default or through the back door like Phil did.
What do you do, then, when you're asked to volunteer or even get paid to teach an online class?
You probably draw from your own personal experience, right!
That's what Phil did! He told the story of his first grant (1988). This story-telling revealed a simple 3-step "idea match" model that became a nexus of the Internet's 1st online course (1997), as well as his 2nd masters degree thesis (2001) and his 1st book (2003):
With This Certificate, Start Telling Your Own Stories as Part of Your Online Teacher Toolkit!
In addition, you'll practice incorporating your stories, what makes you stand out and GPCI core competencies into your online classes!
Enroll early to save $500!
Here’s What You’ll Get When You Sign Up...
You'll become one of a small, cohort of GPC colleagues.
If you're starting out, you'll experience "the apprenticeship of observation" (Dan Lortie, Schoolteacher, 2002, p. 61) that most online faculty will never experience.
If you're an experienced online teacher, you'll experience our advanced training!
Let's start with these four amazing standard-based benefits...
Benefit 1 - Teaching Effectively with Zoom textbook by Dan Levy (Harvard) Purchased for You
Senior Lecturer in Public Policy at Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Dan Levy offers practical pedagogical advice for online educators on questions such as: Why and how to use Zoom breakout rooms?
Teaching Effectively with Zoom by Professor Levy will be purchased and sent to the mailing address on your order form.
Benefit 2 - Checklist: 18 Online Teacher Competencies
Get the checklist of 18 online teacher competencies organized by four key online learning domains: Adult Learning (4), Planning (2), Delivery (8) and Technology & Tools (4). Use this checklist to help prepare, deliver, observe, improve & evaluate. The checklist was developed in the Online Teacher Certificate 1.0 program and may be the first standard of its kind for online teachers.
Benefit 3 - Advanced Training (1st Tues of Each Month) (Value = $1,200)
On the first Tuesday of each month starting in July 2021 at 12 pm Pacific (3 pm Eastern), join a cohort of your GPC colleagues for advanced training and learning "best practices" that are timely and relevant. Training topics will be selected by GPCs enrolled. Some suggested topics to-date include:

And, with help from top faculty at Harvard, you will learn how to get the most out of your Zoom tools and breakout rooms.
Bette Hartnett, GPC
Nevada
"The breakout group discussions were enjoyable and informative."
I really enjoyed the practice exam. It was extremely beneficial to be able to take it and receive my score so I had time to study my weak areas. The breakout group discussions were enjoyable and informative.
Leslie Colston, GPC
Michigan
"... it helped to gel all participants' experiences with the expertise required..."
What surprised me the most about the GPC Exam Prep online course is it helped to gel all the participants' experiences with the expertise required to pass the exam.
Lisa Rene Smith, GPC
New York
"... group participation, not just an instructor-led course."
It was my first experience in doing an online course. It was really helpful that it was a group participation, not just an instructor-led course.

- Because 100% of teachers have their GPCs
- Because the Grants Academy proven curriculum leverages the power of class-based learning and work-based learning like "internships"
- Because "live" online classes may then be repurposed as "evergreen" online classes for residual income

- Because together we can put Americans to work from their homes leading to high-paying, safe and secure jobs without needing years of education

Megan Sillito
Co-Author of the Power of Living Genius
"... I have completed three books and an audio CD set ..."
Since I worked with Phil, I have completed three books and an audio CD set, all of which I had been putting off and not completing, as well as launching a new business and expanding my career exponentially. I can't tell you how valuable it is to learn how to complete things in your life. It has changed my life. I consider Phil to be a Genius Completer.
John Maguire
Founder and Director, Kinesiology Institute
"... now generating several hundred thousands of dollars per year..."
When I started getting mentoring from Phil Johncock, he pointed out that I was trading time for money, and was not doing very well at it on my way to bankruptcy. He helped me develop the courses I had been teaching into evergreen products, which are now generating several hundred thousands of dollars per year. About 20% of my income still comes from live events, trading time for money, but I'm turning them into evergreen products to generate ongoing residual income. Phil’s mentoring and support along the way has significantly contributed to my success.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Online Teacher Certificate 2.0 (2021-2022) is an advanced training program and support system designed to increase a GPC’s capacity to design and deliver online classes to further develop their grant careers and businesses.
For the foreseeable future, webinars and Zoom meetings will be the way today’s workforce gets trained. GPCs trained as new or improved online teachers have a unique opportunity to integrate GPCI competencies into multiple entry-level workforce development funnels that puts many of the 10 million jobless Americans back to work in higher-paying jobs with U.S. nonprofits, schools and colleges, local government agencies, hospitals and even regional innovation hubs without requiring years of education. Many also team-teach classes such as the advanced-level GPC Exam Prep online class.
The overall value of the 2021-2022 Online Teacher Certificate 2.0 is more than $7,988. However, when you sign up during the special enrollment, you can get $500 off, so the cost is only $997. The 1-time payment also saves you 25% off the payment plan.
The payment plan is 12 easy monthly payments of $109. You pay $109 when you enroll. Then, you pay 11 more easy monthly payments of $109.
The monthly advanced training webinars will require 1 hour of your time per month. They take place on the first Tuesday of the month for 12 months. That's 12 hours required.
The question, then, is how much more time do you have and want to give? We will work with you and whatever your schedule might look like.
The additional time you will have and want to give often depends on the number of interns you supervise, number of classes you design and number of classes you teach.
For example, say you decide you want to work 10 hours in October supervising 2 interns. You participate in the monthly intern call (1 hour) at the beginning of the month (or watch the replay recording). You schedule 9 hours total spread out over 4 weeks with your two interns at times that work for you and the interns you supervise.
An application to the Grant Professional Certification Institute (GPCI) is being prepared for submission for consideration as an approved Accepted Education Program for a total of 10 GPCI Education Points for the advanced training.
Disclaimers: "While GPCI neither endorses or sponsors any specific training providers, our Accepted Education Program lists providers who offer trainings that have been reviewed by GPCI to cover the GPC Competencies."
"Please note it is the responsibility of the training participant to confirm with the providers that a particular training session has been approved for GPCI Accepted Education Program status. Participants must also obtain proof of attendance and the approved number of GPCI Education Points directly from the provider."

Students who successfully complete a 30-hour Grant Pro 101 online course will be eligible to participate in an internship.
Interns typically sign up for a 30-hour work-based learning experience within a 30-day period. They apply what they learned in the online classroom on-the-job. Each intern submits an Internship Learning Plan (ILP), attends the monthly intern/supervisor meeting at the beginning of the month and goes to work.
Interns earn $20/hour and are paid half up front and the balance when the final deliverable is... delivered.
Faculty who supervise their intern(s) typically spend one hour in a monthly intern/supervisor meeting the first week of the month and schedule up to 5 hours one-on-one at an agreed-upon schedule.
Like interns, faculty are paid half up front and the balance when the final deliverable is... delivered. Faculty pay is typically $250-$300 per intern or $40/hour.
On the first Tuesday of each month starting in July 2021 at 12 pm Pacific (3 pm Eastern) through June 2022, join a cohort of your GPC colleagues for advanced training and learning "best practices" that are timely and relevant. Training topics will be selected by GPCs enrolled. Some suggested topics to-date include:
- Strategies for GPCI competency integration
- Mentoring/supervising interns
- Scenario-based learning
- Translating off-line to on-line classes
- Strength-Based teaching and learning
- Setting/measuring teacher/learner outcomes
- GPC panel discussions
If you are unable to attend the session, the replay recordings will be available within 24-48 hours of the "live" events.
Affiliates like Guruface.com will help with the recruitment for our classes. I will help, as well, by sending emails promoting your classes and free webinars to my email list of 40,000+.
I imagine you may want to recruit, as well, especially for the GPC Exam Prep online class. We'll set you up as an affiliate. To help you and all faculty with recruitment, I'll share proven tools to help you increase the number of online students such as:
**Affiliates
**Email list building
**Social Media (LinkedIn, Facebook, etc.)
Here are two easy ways to begin:
- Read Teaching Effectively with Zoom by Dan Levy (Harvard Professor). This book will be purchased for you and mailed directly to you at the address on your enrollment form.
- Review 18 Core Competencies for Online Teachers as well as attend the required 12 monthly training webinars that will encourage you to build on your strengths.
Then, with a small cohort of GPC colleagues, all at varying degrees of online teaching expertise, you should feel safe and welcomed!
You'll experience what is called "the apprenticeship of observation" (Dan Lortie, Schoolteacher, 2002, p. 61) that most online faculty have never experienced. You'll observe and even co-teach with GPCs with online teaching experience.
You may even co-teach the GPC Exam Prep online class with approved curriculum and lesson plans.
You'll get checklists and step-by-step instructions to teach your first class successfully!
Progress at your own pace. Ask for help when you need it.
First, you can increase the number of students who enroll in your online classes with our 5 Proven Tools to Increase Your #s of Students. Take advantage of Phil's email list of 40,000 and marketing resources from Guruface.com. You can even grow your own email list of prospective students by teaching "live" free webinars on your strengths and interests that may be repurposed as "evergreen" webinars.
For example, Phil plans to teach "live" free (and then "evergreen) webinars that have a proven track record, like How to Be Grant Ready. He also plans to design and facilitate a new webinar entitled Discovering the Grant Profession where you and your cohort will be invited to join Phil on a panel to tell stories of the biggest stumbling blocks in our early grant professional careers and make suggestions for entry-level grant pros on how to avoid them. The lists of attendees of the free webinars will be invited to attend your paid online classes.
Second, the same process of repurposing "live" into "evergreen" free webinars works for "paid" online classes. This means that you can create residual income for your business by simply designing and delivering your own "live" and then "evergreen" online classes using the Guruface.com platform.
Finally, we are seeking approval from GPCI for you to be able to use your monthly advanced training webinars (up to 10 hours) towards your recertification.
Guruface.com is your comprehensive online platform for teaching and learning. The Guruface mission is to provide a state of the art online training platform for students, freelance teachers, corporate trainers, and small to mid-size companies worldwide.
You will learn how to use Guruface.com for yourself and in team-teaching.
The Grants Academy is in the process of submitting an application to be reviewed and approved under the GPCI Accepted Education Program. GPCI, itself, was accredited in 2019, even though the first GPC exam was offered as early as 2007.
Earlier in 2001, the University and Community College System of Nevada, which was accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, approved a 10-credit college grant certification designed by Grants Academy faculty. Once the GPC exam was available (2007), Nevada faculty pivoted to use the GPC exam as an independent 3rd party assessment of grant competence.
There is no specific online teacher program accreditation process at this time, as far as we know. If we become aware of a credible accreditation body that benefits our learners and faculty, we will definitely consider applying to be accredited in the near future.
For now, we support the GPCI accreditation and accrediting process of universities that offer our online classes.
Here are five things you can do with your certificate:
- First, add it as a certificate to your LinkedIn profile as soon as you enroll. In fact, the first step in the "onboarding" process is to do just that!
- Second, us it in your marketing of the online classes you teach.
- Third, showcase it on Guruface.com and on the faculty page of the Grants Academy.
- Fourth, add it to the signature on your emails.
- Fifth, add it to your business website.
This is a short list of five things you can do with your certificate very quickly. Be creative. There are no limits to creative ways to use the certificate to support you in moving forward as an online teacher.
Sure! Through the Grants Academy, you will be invited to co-teach any GPC Exam Prep online class offered, which already has the curriculum developed. Next class is Sept 29 - Nov 17. You will also be invited to supervise interns.
Absolutely! You will be able to create your own entry-level "live" and "evergreen" classes and free webinars using the Guruface.com platform or other platform of your preference.
First, you'll be responsible for attending the monthly advanced training sessions on the first Tuesday of the month, starting in July. Or, if you're unable to attend "live", you're responsible for watching the replay.
Second, if you want up to 10 professional development hours towards recertification, you will be responsible for keeping and turning in some forms so we can verify your participation, as well as fulfill any GPCI requirements.
Third, if you're involved in any co-teaching such as the GPC Exam Prep online class, you'll be responsible for attending (or watching the replays) short "logistics" meetings with your co-teachers.
Other than that, you'll be responsible for communicating if you have any questions or need help.
